DES-EDE3 Overview

DES-EDE3 is a symmetric-key block cipher algorithm. It is a variety of Triple DES encryption algorithm which encrypts the input data three times using DES algorithm.

DES-EDE3 encrypts data in 64-bit blocks. DES-EDE3 key consists of 192 binary digits ("0"s or "1"s) of which 168 bits are used directly by the algorithm.

Triple DES is defined by the American standard FIPS 46-3.
